A plan that safeguards your finances and future is a powerful financial tool that often goes unnoticed due to the misunderstandings surrounding it. Today, I want to share with you the most common myths about life insurance that I’ve encountered in my more than 12 years in this field.

Myth #1: Only younger and healthier individuals can have life insurance. The mistaken belief that only the younger population should consider life insurance is a myth. The reality is that life insurance can be valuable at any age, from infancy to retirement. From the moment we are born until 85 years old, we can ensure that our families are financially protected in case something unexpected happens. It’s an act of financial responsibility that can provide peace of mind in all stages of life.

Myth #2: I will lose all the money I pay for Life Insurance. Another very common myth about life insurance is that policies are only available for fixed periods, like 10, 20, or 30 years, and if you don’t use the policy, you lose your money. The reality is that there are life insurance options that can last up to 100 years or more, and the best part is that, at the end of the policy, you might get back all the money invested! This means you can plan for a secure future while having financial backup along the way.

Myth #3: I can only have Life Insurance if I have an SSN (Social Security Number). In the United States, there are companies for which you could be eligible if you have a valid passport or an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number). You’ll just need to answer a series of questions posed by your advisor to determine the ideal plan for you.

Life insurance is an investment in one’s own financial security and that of the family, regardless of age, and it’s a valuable tool for future planning. Don’t let myths deter you from reaping the benefits that life insurance can provide throughout your entire life.
